The Bruins come home from a two-game road trip for a five-game stretch at TD Garden. Two of the five are afternoon starts on weekend days, which changes the parking math.

The dates

  • Sat, Oct 31 vs. Blackhawks, 1:00 p.m. (Halloween)
  • Mon, Nov 2 vs. Golden Knights, 7:00 p.m. (Military Appreciation Night)
  • Sun, Nov 8 vs. Panthers, 1:00 p.m.
  • Thu, Nov 12 vs. Canadiens, 7:00 p.m.
  • Sat, Nov 14 vs. Wild, 7:00 p.m.

Afternoon games are the easy ones, if you commit early

A 1 p.m. Saturday or Sunday puck drop means you are competing with shoppers and brunch traffic rather than the weekday commute. Garages around North Station fill between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Arrive before 11:30 and you will have a choice; arrive at 12:45 and you will take what is left on Cambridge Street or in the Bulfinch Triangle.

Halloween adds a wrinkle: expect families and costumed fans on the Greenway and in the North End after the game, and slower exits along Causeway Street.

Weeknight games: the 5 to 6 p.m. squeeze

For the 7 p.m. games, the hard window is 5:00 to 6:15, when the evening commute is leaving the same garages you want to enter. The two reliable moves are to arrive before 5 and eat near the arena, or to park one neighborhood out (Government Center, Haymarket, or the Seaport edge of the Financial District) and walk 10 to 15 minutes.

Reserve, or ride

  • Reserve a spot for the two weekend afternoons. Garage pre-booking is cheapest when it is done days ahead, and it removes the circling.
  • Ride the T. North Station sits under the arena on the Orange and Green Lines and every north-side commuter rail line. For Thursday and Saturday night games it is usually faster door to door than driving in from Route 1 or 93.
  • Leave late or leave early. The post-game garage exit takes 20 to 40 minutes. A drink in the Hub on Causeway or a walk to the North End costs the same time and is more pleasant.

Use Spot Check

Open the app before you leave, check live availability near TD Garden, and save your spot. Spot Check users can also report full garages and open street spots for each other during the homestand.
